Mold & Indoor Air Quality Testing
About Mold & Indoor Air Quality Testing
When conditions are right, mold occurs when organic material, such as dry wall and wood, break down and release spores into the air. These spores land on surfaces that allow them to grow and proliferate into what we see as mold. When left unchecked, mold growth can potentially damage a home and may cause health related issues for those who inhabit these homes. Some examples of mold presence may include but not limited to musty odors, mold growth on walls, and excessive humidity throughout the home.
What to Expect from Mold & Indoor Air Quality Testing
When testing for mold and indoor air quality, your home inspector from Remedy Inspections will perform a non-invasive visual inspection followed by collecting samples of the air and physical surface(s). The mold testing may include the use of a moisture meter and an air quality tester. When collecting air samples for mold and air quality, Remedy Inspections will sample both the indoor space, as well as, the outdoor space. When collecting surface samples, Remedy Inspections will pull samples using a swab or tape strip depending on the type of surface and conditions. These samples are then sent to an independent and certified laboratory to identify the various types of mold found in the home.
